[VFL] Meeting Recap and National Pro-Life Chalking Day (9/24)!

Be the voice for the voiceless!

Recap of VFL Meeting

Hi everyone!

Just wanted to recap for anyone who couldn’t make it to the meeting today! We discussed our semester agenda and our personal beliefs regarding life issues. We also discussed National Pro-Life Chalking Day (see below) and #equalityfortheunborn (see in the side panel).

National Pro-Life Chalking Day

After the meeting, we chalked the Levering Courtyard for National Pro-Life Chalking Day (Thursday, September 24th). This year the theme is #WomenBetrayed . We chalked many messages including “heart beats at 21 days” and “Planned Parenthood betrayed women”.

JHU VFL has reserved the Levering Courtyard from today until Friday, September 25th. We ask that if you notice any serious  vandalism to the pro-life chalking that you let us know at  prolife@jhu.edu so that we can go to re-chalk the courtyard during the time we have reserved.

Next VFL Club Meeting: 10/6/15

Our next meeting is Tuesday, October 6th at 8:30pm in the Mudd Atrium by the red couches. This is an important meeting  because we will be  reviewing pro-life apologetics for Respect Life Day on Thursday, October 8th. The event will include a free cupcake handout for  National Pro-Life Cupcake Day ( http://cupcakesforlife.com ), a student poll on fetal development, silence and flyers for  Day of Silent Solidarity (#silentday) and c halking on the Levering Courtyard.

If you would like to get a head-start on pro-life apologetics, we recommend starting here . The resources and materials we will be using for Respect Life Day will be shared and discuss at our meeting on Tuesday, October 6th. We hope you can make it to both the meeting and the event!

Here is the resource that we discussed today regarding bad arguments for abortion.

Students for Life of America

The Students for Life of America Capital Area Activism Summit will be on Saturday, October 3rd. This year, it will be hosted at George Mason University in VA and the cost is $15, with lunch and snacks provided.  A few VFL members have attended in the past and this is a training summit that is highly recommended. This semester, some members of the executive board will be in attendance.

Please let us know if you would also like to attend so that we can arrange transportation together. To register, please click here . If cost is an issue, please email us at  prolife@jhu.edu.

Respect Life Mass

Respect Life Mass will be held at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen (5200 N Charles St, Baltimore, MD 21210) on Sunday, October 4th at 11am. At the meeting, we discussed the pro-life apologetics episodes offered online from Life is Best offered here . There are 13 half-hour episodes with different focuses. These episodes are review of pro-life questions and answers and are extremely helpful preparation for the discussion on abortion. As the website says, “Lives are at stake… Life Is Best will thoroughly equip and inspire you to join the fight for lives…”.
